About mid-day yesterday I stopped at a mirror to gaze at my beautiful self..actually I was doing a makeup check and noticed that I was super shiny. So as a true fashionista, I reached in my purse to grab my rice paper and began blotting away. This time was different, instead of just soaking up oil, I was taking off my foundation also! I then realized that I didn't have my compact and began to think "What Did I Forget?" I had eyes- check, lips - check, bronzer - check, base - check, primer-.........! That was it I had forgotten to apply primer! Just as a painter knows that if you're trying to paint a home and you forget the primer that the paint a.) Will appear lack luster, b.) It will not last long before cracks, it's the SAME principle for cosmetics.
We apply foundation primer to increase the smoothness of our skin before the application of color. It also allows us to wear our foundation longer without a re-application. For eyes, we wear primer to minimize lines on our lids, to be a canvas for our our shadow, and to give our color that *pop* of vividness. Two of my favorite and most used primers are Smashbox Photo Finish Primer for the face and Urban Decay's Primer Potion for the eyes. These products are amazing!
